The purpose of the BrisDoc Community Fund is to ring fence an agreed percentage of BrisDoc’s financial surplus year on year to:
- make a difference to local communities by improving health and as a consequence people’s life chances
- support people in need in the UK and in the developing world
- harness the motivation and skills of our workforce to support agreed initiatives
- help address the gap between what is publicly funded and the health needs of specific communities and groups
The aim of the Community Fund is to provide a mechanism by which BrisDoc can ring fence financial resource and allocate it to selected partners for agreed projects. There is no intention to establish the fund with separate charitable status, albeit that this could be a future development.
Details
The details agreed by the shareholders in November 2014 are as follows:
- A management committee oversees the fund and any resources allocated from it with appropriate arrangements to ensure good governance and probity
At least two medium term projects are selected to support, with due diligence in place to ensure that projects will deliver expected benefits and will be sustainable. One project will be local and one will be in the developing world.
How Can I Be Involved?
The management committee overseeing the BrisDoc Community Fund engage with staff in regard to this development and to facilitate effective staff involvement. As a staff member, you may want to contribute to this initiative which could include a number of options such as:
- one-off fundraising events (with a focus on health & wellbeing and equality)
- contributions of time, practical support or specific expertise
