What is a Wellbeing Champion?
A Wellbeing Champion is a friendly, supportive colleague who helps nurture a positive workplace by encouraging conversations about wellbeing and offering informal, peer-to-peer support.
It’s a voluntary role, carried out alongside their usual responsibilities, with a time commitment of up to four hours per month. Champions report to their Service Manager and the BrisDoc Wellbeing Lead, and have completed an assessment, selection and manager approval process, plus basic training approved by the BrisDoc Wellbeing Lead.
Wellbeing Champions are there to listen, signpost and help colleagues feel supported. They don’t replace Human Resources, counselling or line management, and they’re not expected to diagnose, advise on or manage mental health conditions. Any safeguarding concerns or serious issues must be escalated through the appropriate organisational channels.
