Dec 2025 – Co-ownership in action: you shared, we’re listening

Andy Morrison

Dear BrisDoc Co-owners,

Thank you to everyone who took part in the SevernSide Clinical Education Day and the November Co-owners Council meeting. You shared a huge amount of honest, thoughtful feedback about co-ownership and what it feels like to work at BrisDoc.

We would like to bring together what you told us and what’s happening now. Some actions are already in place, some are in progress, and some are things we’re still exploring.

You’ll see three types of response throughout this page:

  • Already happening – things in place now
  • In progress – work started or planned
  • Exploring – ideas we’re scoping or need your input on

1. Co-ownership and your reps

You shared

You want it to be easier to know who your rep is, what co-ownership really means in practice, and how to get in touch or get involved.

What’s happening

  • Already happening: A Co-owners Hub on Radar is live for information and updates.
  • Already happening: All co-owners have been emailed to confirm who their rep is.
  • Already happening: Co-ownership is now included in the corporate induction.
  • In progress: Adding rep photos and profiles to the Co-owners Council Hub on Radar (coming soon).
  • In progress: Exploring how reps can be notified about new starters so they can reach out early.
  • Exploring: How to make the election process clearer and more transparent for everyone.

How you can get involved

  • Contact your rep via the Co-owners Council Hub on Radar or by replying to emails from your rep.
  • Visit the Co-owners Council page on Radar: https://www.radar-brisdoc.co.uk/co-owners-council
  • To attend a council meeting as a guest, email Employee Directors Kelly Shore and Louise Whyte via brisdoc.coownercouncil@nhs.net.

2. Staying informed

You shared

You’d like clearer, more regular updates about what the Co-owners Council is doing, what’s being discussed at Board level, and how BrisDoc’s money is being used.

What’s happening

  • Already happening: The BrisDoc Newsletter and Clinical Newsletter now include items on co-ownership.
  • Already happening: The Co-owners Council Hub on Radar holds council updates and meeting minutes.
  • Already happening: Short summary videos from council meetings are shared on Radar and in the BrisDoc Newsletter.
  • Already happening: Increasing financial visibility, as discussed in the November council minutes and at the AGM.
  • In progress: We’ll ask Jonathan about making the AGM both face-to-face and online.

How you can get involved

  • Check the Co-owners Council Hub on Radar, newsletters and videos for regular updates.
  • If you’re not receiving council minutes, email: brisdoc.coownercouncil@nhs.net.

3. Shaping BrisDoc together

You shared

You want clearer ways to suggest ideas, nominate charities, get involved in project work, and see how ideas are turned into action. You also asked for more clarity on our values, vision and green ambitions.

What’s happening

  • Already happening: The Green Board, community fund and social group share articles in the newsletter and welcome new members.
  • In progress: The Co-owners Council Hub on Radar will show more “ideas into action” examples, so you can see what’s changed as a result of feedback.
  • In progress: The community fund and how to nominate a charity will be highlighted in the BrisDoc Newsletter.
  • Exploring: How we share and develop our BrisDoc values and vision together with co-owners.
  • Exploring: Videos summarising relevant Board discussions are planned so co-owners can see what’s being talked about at that level.
  • Exploring: How best to communicate our green vision – this will be taken to the Green Board for next steps.

How you can get involved

  • Share ideas via the staff suggestion box or the Co-owners Council Hub on Radar.
  • If you’re interested in project work or investing time in the business, speak to your rep or email Kelly and Louise at brisdoc.coownercouncil@nhs.net so we can understand what you’d like to do.
  • Tell your rep what would help you feel more integrated across teams or services.

4. Connecting and learning together

You shared

You value time together – to learn, collaborate and feel part of the wider BrisDoc community. You’d like more education and collaboration days, continued “roadshow” style sessions, and social events such as a Christmas or winter party.

What’s happening

  • In progress: The SevernSide Clinical Education Day has been given the go ahead for 2026.
  • In progress: We’re exploring options for practice services, business services and operational services events, including whether ICB funding might support these events.
  • In progress: We’re considering how to continue roadshow-style events with a different name, slightly different format, and a stronger co-owner lens.
  • Exploring: A Christmas/winter party and other social events, which have been shared with the social group.
  • Exploring: Twice-yearly co-owner face-to-face meetings and how to make them as inclusive and useful as possible.

How you can get involved

  • Look out for invitations and updates via email, Radar and the BrisDoc Newsletter.
  • Let your rep know what you’d most value from future events and connection opportunities.

5. Your working environment

You shared

You raised feedback about facilities at Christchurch and how the working environment feels in practice.

What’s happening

  • Exploring: We’re gathering more detail about the issues and ideas at Christchurch so we can understand what would make the biggest difference and what’s realistic to change.

How you can get involved

  • Share specific examples or suggestions about facilities with your rep so we can build a clearer picture and prioritise.

6. Keeping the conversation going

We know we won’t be able to act on every idea straight away. Our commitment is to:

  • Keep listening to co-owner feedback.
  • Be honest about what’s already happening, what’s in progress and what we’re still exploring.
  • Use existing channels – the Co-owners Council Hub on Radar, newsletters, videos and induction – to keep you up to date.

Thank you again to all co-owners who have shared their views so far, and to our Co-owner Reps for the time and care they’re putting into making BrisDoc better for all of us.

Best wishes,
Louise Whyte and Kelly Shore
BrisDoc Employee Directors
