Corporate Induction Recap

  • Ensure New Starter has attended or is booked onto attend a corporate induction session
  • If New Starter has not yet attended a corporate induction, go through corporate induction checklist as a brief overview with them.

Service Overview

Introduction to Service (using local service handbook if applicable)

Points to be covered:

  • Line Manager / Team Manager structure and contact details
  • Annual Leave including restrictive periods
  • Sickness procedure
  • Rota cover, including Bank Holidays, Netmaster requests, Additional hours
  • Pay structure
  • Code of conduct (to be issued)
  • Social media policy (to be issued)
  • Mobile phone usage

For IUC operational staff- Role Handbook

  • To be issued. Explain the most up to date version can be found on Radar and staff member is responsible for remaining up to date with changes within their role.

Staff Log-ins

Check have received and provide induction on:

  • NHS mail (add to distribution lists)
  • Rotamaster self-service
  • National Skills Academy
  • E-LfH platform for IG
  • Radar / GP Team Net
  • Brisdoc weblinks
  • Adastra
  • EMIS – for Practices to be set locally by IT.
  • Any other service specific platforms.

Refreshments / Facilities

  • Toilets, Lockers, Cloakroom
  • Door codes, alarms, gates, car parking

Smart & ID Cards and Policy

  • Check / issue SMART and ID cards received by individual (as necessary)
  • Issue SMART card policy.

Visitors Policy

  • Procedures relating to visitors explained

Other relevant policies

  • Inform individual to read relevant policies to their role by the end of month 1

TRAINING

Training

  • Explain timeframes for completing training during the induction period, including Service specific timelines
  • Review Training Matrix for their role and explain how to book or book onto face to face training sessions that may be required i.e. BLS, Customer Service, Safeguarding -for clinical staff

PDR

  • Explain the PDR process within probationary period and thereafter.
  • Discuss / Agree initial objectives for the role.

Training Shifts (if appropriate)

  • Agree dates for training / shadow shifts (if appropriate).
  • Confirm date for new starter to commence default shifts and check Workforce know start date (for setting up on Payroll)

Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Manual Handling & Reporting

Health & Safety

  • Location of First Aid Kit and H&S poster
  • Service H&S Lead details given
  • Display Screen Equipment & rest breaks explained.
  • Risk assessment of work station undertaken
  • Location of Accident Book and reporting procedures
  • RIDDOR – Reporting of injuries, disease or dangerous occurrence regulations.
  • COSHH – Control of Substances Hazardous to Health

Personal safety

  • Lone working / personal safety policy / panic alarms explained and shown

Fire Safety

  • Location of Fire Alarms, Fire Exits, Assembly points, Fire Extinguishers shown – must be at each relevant site
  • Evacuation procedure explained.
  • Informed of who Fire Wardens are.

Incident reporting

  • How to report incidents/near misses/errors

New Starter Reviews

Book dates for:

  • Month 1 touchpoint
  • Month 3 touchpoint
  • Month 6 (5) Probation review to be followed by PDR
