SevernSide Hosts Are More Than Receptionists.
None of the premises we use for our Treatment Centres belong to BrisDoc, and our Hosts have responsibility for setting up and packing away at the start of each shift – essentially turning the premises into a BrisDoc base.
Think about staying in someone’s house, and what makes the difference between a good host and an OK host.
Remember: A Host is the first person a patient user meets when a patient arrives for an appointment and first impressions form a big part of patient experience with the service.
A good host gives a warm welcome. Welcome your patients and clinicians with a warm and professional manner. Offer tea and coffee to the clinicians, and help to sort out any problems.
A good host makes sure guests have everything they need and that everything is working. Check the black boxes, check the equipment and IT. Report any problems to get them fixed – be as specific as you can so we can find the right solution. Keep your patients well informed. Put out the leaflet racks and feedback cards. Make sure the pop-up sign is clearly displayed in the waiting room so that patients have access to information about the service.
A good host takes responsibility for a guest’s well being. Keep an eye on your waiting room – report it to the shift manager if it’s getting behind or too busy. Do the clinicians need a break during a busy shift? Apologise to patients who have been waiting a long time. Offer water, tissues, sick bowls.
If you shut down the base at the end of the shift please check the rooms have been left clean and clear. We need to consider those who use the room after us.
Training Support Co-Ordinators (TSC)
The Training Support Co-ordinators (TSC) makes sure everyone gets the support they need when they first start working in Severnside. The TSCs support both clinical and operational inductions and hubs reducing the need for initial on the job training pressure for exisiting co-owners. The TSc’s ensure new starters have the space and time they need to learn and thrive at the pace they need.
As well as new starters the TSCs can also support more experienced co-owners who would like to try new things, or would like to consolidate their existing knowledge.
