SevernSide IUC

Overview

This year has been both busy and rewarding for Severnside Integrated Urgent Care (IUC), as we have tirelessly delivered essential services to our community. With 120,000 interactions in our out-of-hours service, 15,000 consultations via the Weekday Professional Line, and 11,000 engagements through the System CAS (Clinical Assessment Service), our dedication to providing accessible and high-calibre care remains persistent. A key milestone this year was the introduction of our Frailty ACE service, established in direct response to the growing winter demands on our services. Following constructive initial trials, we proudly launched F-ACE on 10 January 2024, exemplifying our responsiveness to the dynamic needs of healthcare.

Operational Enhancements and Digital Advancements

The past year has seen us embark on substantial operational and digital enhancements to boost efficiency and service delivery. In April 2023, our relocation to Marksbury Road from Knowle West Health Park marked a significant upgrade in our working environment for both staff and patients, a move that has been met with overwhelming positivity.

The transition to a more advanced Sesui telephony system and the implementation of a new environment for remote workers are testament to our commitment to enhancing user experience and equipping our teams with robust digital tools. We owe a debt of gratitude to our team managers, shift managers, WaCCs, and the digital team, whose support has been crucial in these developments.

Future Initiatives and Growth Prospects

As we look to the future, a wealth of promising developments await. The planned expansion of our mental health service provision from 12 to 24 hours a day is in step with national endeavours to amplify urgent mental health support via the 111 service. This sets the stage for further advancements in this critical sector. Continual technical and operational improvements, like incorporating text messaging into Adastra and evaluating new equipment for SevernSide vehicles, are in progress. In line with our sustainability goals, we are keen to shift more paper-based processes to digital formats, aiding both environmental sustainability and operational efficacy.

Acknowledgement and Gratitude

We convey our deep appreciation to all our co-owners for their engagement with service adaptations and their drive towards enhancing quality. Your commitment allows us to meet the changing needs and remain focused on delivering superior care to our community. Reflecting on our accomplishments this year and looking forward to the challenges and prospects that lie ahead, I am assured that, in unison, we will continue to forge ahead in our mission. My sincere thanks for your ongoing commitment, your remarkable contributions, and I look forward with optimism to the progress we will achieve together in the forthcoming year.
