Our People

Our Achievements in Engagement

In 2023/24, our commitment to nurturing a vibrant culture has been evident through the encouraging results of our “Our Voice” employee survey. BrisDoc boasts an Employee Net Promoter Score of 64.8, categorising us within the excellent range. This achievement is a testament to our dedication to our co-owners, whose input is valued through the Co-owner Council, suggestion schemes, roadshows, and learning events. The introduction of the Shine platform in late 2023 has further facilitated peer-to-peer recognition, allowing colleagues to celebrate the exceptional efforts within our organisation.

Fostering Well-Being

Our proactive approach to well-being is reflected in our comprehensive employee assistance programme and mental health leads. The quarterly well-being surveys allow us to gauge the health of our services effectively. Moreover, our alignment with the NHS Sexual Safety in Healthcare Charter reiterates our pledge to maintain a secure and respectful work environment. We are currently revitalising our well-being strategy to seamlessly incorporate it into our everyday operations.

Rewarding Our People

In recognition of our team’s hard work, we have increased pay by 6% and maintained our status as a Real Living Wage employer. The Sharing Success and Being Prepared bonuses, along with two additional cost of living support payments, have been distributed via the Employee Owners Bonus. Our colleagues have also benefited from a variety of shopping discounts and salary exchange schemes for transport and technology, accessible through Shine and our existing programmes.

Diversity and Inclusion

Our workforce has grown more diverse, particularly in ethnicity and disability representation, surpassing the demographic spread of the BNSSG area. The spirited celebration of Pride and collaboration with regional healthcare providers has highlighted our inclusive ethos.

Recruitment and Onboarding

The introduction of a new applicant tracking system has revolutionised our recruitment process, allowing our People team to interact more effectively with candidates and hiring managers. Last year, we welcomed 70 new colleagues, 95% of whom were recruited within our target timeframe. Notably, 10 of these individuals were referred by our existing staff, reaffirming BrisDoc’s reputation as a desirable workplace. We also extended honorary contracts to professionals from Sirona, Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership, and the Primary Care Network.

Future Directions

Looking forward, the launch of the BrisDoc learning portal is set to broaden educational prospects for all colleagues, with a concentrated effort on enhancing support for managers and team leaders. This portal aims to optimise learning management, thereby enabling the People team to focus on enriching co-owner learning and development. In our pursuit of a coaching culture, we are shifting from traditional annual performance reviews to an approach centred on coaching conversations, fostering ongoing personal and professional growth.
