Our Facilities

BrisDoc’s Facilities Team provides support the array of services BrisDoc offer, including SevernSide IUC, our trio of GP practices, and our Head Office at Osprey Court. In every initiative, the team remain aligned with our Core Values, ensuring that every action and decision supports the well-being of our patients, staff, planet, and the broader community.

Leadership Transition

We are pleased to announce that Gemma Cuff has stepped into the role of Facilities Manager at BrisDoc. Gemma’s promotion is a testament to her hard work and dedication.

In this time of transition, we also extend our profound gratitude to Sabrina Flew as she steps down from her role. For over a decade, Sabrina has set a high standard of excellence, reflected in the consistently high feedback within the ‘Our Voice’ annual survey. Her leadership has not only uplifted her team but also made a substantial impact on the entire organisation.

Sustainable Initiatives Undertaken This Year

  • Heart of BS13 Partnership: In September 2023, Heart of BS13 approached Osprey Court to propose a food waste recycling collaboration. We eagerly accepted, and have been contributing to food waste recycling ever since. The process involves converting our food waste into compost at Hartcliffe City Farm, which is then used at their sustainable flower farm. This farm also serves as an educational and training hub for the community.
  • Coco Fuel’s Impact: Our vigilance in monitoring fuel consumption has led to an offset of 18.603 tonnes of CO2 in 2023. We continue to support the carbon offset projects affiliated with Coco Fuel.
  • ESOS – Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme: An ESOS assessment conducted at Osprey Court led to several eco-friendly recommendations. One significant change was the installation of LED lights in Unit 20 during the latter part of 2023, resulting in energy and cost savings.
  • Renewable Energy Transition: In October 2023, we transitioned to a renewable energy supplier for Unit 20, with plans to extend this change to Unit 21 in March 2024.

Operational Developments

  • Relocation of Knowle West Health Park: April 2023 saw the relocation of our services to Marksbury Road Surgery from the Knowle West Health Park, a location we had utilised for 13 years. The transition to a modern, purpose-built surgery with secure parking has been well-received by our co-owners and clinicians. Despite the initial challenges, the move has proved to be a resounding success, fostering excellent relationships with the staff at Marksbury Road Surgery.
  • Equipment Boxes in IUC: Collaborations between Facilities and the IUC Team Managers have led to the introduction of new equipment boxes across each base. By optimising and updating the contents of these boxes, we have seen a reduction in equipment loss, lower costs, and an enhanced impact on patient care.
  • Maintenance at BMC: Tony from the Facilities Team has undertaken the repainting of BMC and the replacement of most lighting fixtures there.
