Co-owner Charter
We’re creating a Co-owner Charter to define what it means to be part of an employee-owned BrisDoc.
The charter will be shaped by co-owners, for co-owners. It will capture the behaviours, values and shared commitments that matter most to us, our colleagues and our patients.
This is our chance to describe the culture we want to build together, strengthen our sense of ownership, and show what makes BrisDoc a great place to work.
The Co-owners Council will be setting up a working group to draft the charter. We’d love to hear your ideas.
Questions to think about
- What makes BrisDoc a great place to work?
- What should we commit to as co-owners?
- How do we want people to feel when they work here?
- What responsibilities do we all share?
- How should the charter be used or displayed?
- What should it tell new co-owners about who we are?

Your voice in BrisDoc decisions
We want your views and experiences to shape how BrisDoc is run. With over 600 co-owners, it isn’t feasible to ask everyone about every decision. That’s why we set up the Co-owners’ Council.
What the Council is
-
Around 20 colleagues who represent defined staff groups.
-
Each member speaks for a specific team and brings your feedback into formal decision-making.
Example: there’s a dedicated representative for Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) Drivers. They attend all Council meetings, advocate for their team, and ensure the Drivers’ perspective is considered at the highest level.
Employee Directors
-
Two elected Employee Directors chair the Council.
-
They gather opinions and feedback from Council representatives and take these to BrisDoc’s Board of Directors (the Board).
-
In the Board setting, they advocate for you and all co-owners, influencing decisions in the best interests of our workforce.
How information flows
-
Your views move from teams → Council → Board.
-
Updates come back from the Board → Council → teams.
-
Where appropriate, you’ll also receive updates directly from the Board.
Why this matters
This creates a clear two-way conversation between co-owners and our leadership. Your voice is heard, your expertise is valued, and decisions are stronger because they’re informed by people doing the work.
In short: the Co-owners’ Council turns co-ownership into everyday practice. Together we make smarter, fairer decisions for patients, colleagues and communities.
